We received some great entries in the search for our MIF KNOCKOUT RING GIRLS. We have short listed 5 entrants who have made it into the finals. It will now be up to the Facebook fans to vote for their favourite entrant! The winner will be seen this Saturday Night as they represent Maximum Impact Fighting at MMA Showdown as one of our KNOCKOUT RING GIRLS!

MMA Showdown News: Three Muay Thai Exhibition Matches set for Showdown

Not only will we see great MMA action on the night, but we will also be treated to three Muay Thai exhibition bouts. These guys are first time fighters, representing their respective gyms here in Adelaide. We are excited to provide you with these fights as they will surely be looking to go all out in their debuts. Some of these fighters are looking to take their next step into MMA, so this will be a vital stepping stone in their quest to make the transition. MMA Showdown News: Final two MMA fights Announced!

FEATHERWEIGHT MATCH 65KG

          VS         

Jerick Panes (Progressive BJJ) vs Dave Wang (ISOHEALTH)

 Phillipenes born Jerick Panes (MMA 0-1) who fights out of Progressive BBJ will be taking on ISOHEALTH’S Dave Wang (MMA 0-0).  Panes has one MMA fight under his belt, and his loss came from a doctors stoppage due to a cut he received in the second round. Panes has a solid brazillian ju-ijitsu game and is looking to use that to his advantage in this fight. Wang has competed on the Muay Thai circuit in Thailand and has a great stand up game. Wang will most certainly have the upper hand when it comes to the battle on their feet, but if it goes to he ground, the advantage would likely be in Jerick’s favour. This is a classic battle of stand up vs the ground game as these two fighters prepare for the ultimate SHOWDOWN!

In our final MMA match up we will see the débuts of two more young fighters.  James McGlashan (MMA 0-0) from Mildura Martial Arts will be fighting Russian born Yan Yurchenko (MMA 0-0) fighting out of  Toe2Toe. Both fighters are experienced jujitsu practitioners and have both been working on their stand up game over the past 12 months. These two are very evenly matched, having both competed in a number of jujitsu tournaments and will make for a exciting bout when these two face off come February 2nd at MMA Showdown.

The MAIN EVENT has been set for MMA SHOWDOWN and we are in for an incredible showcase of MMA action! Terry Balboa (3-0) who fights out of City Gym in Adelaide, will be taking on Queensland’s MMA veteran, Greg ‘The Tarantula’ Atzori (MMA 11-4) from Integrated Martial Arts. Balboa holds a black belt in Muay Thai, a Purple Belt in Jujitsu and has trained with some of the best in the world including the Korean Zombie, of UFC fame, and Australian Kickboxing icon Steve Fielding. Atzori is also no stranger to MMA fighting and has a very notable win/loss record. He specialises in grappling and jiu jitsu and has held the lightweight title after an impressive win over Nick Robbins from a rear naked choke to capture the Fight World Cup Lightweight Title.  He’s also well known for bring a grinder as he likes to go the distance with his opponents. Most recently Aztori is coming off a decision loss and is looking to take it to Balboa to get back into the winning column. Balboa, who is considered one of SA’s finest and most seasoned MMA fighters, currently stands undefeated in MMA and is seeking to continue his dominant streak. This is a match not to be missed, and is sure to blow the roof off the house!

We will then let our Facebook fans vote for their favourite girl and the winner will be announced January 30th once voting ceases!

**All entrants who are short listed will receive a double pass to the event**

You must be over the age of 18 and be available on Saturday, February 2nd for the event (6:30pm-10:30pm approx). *No prior experience as a ring girl is necessary and you will receive a prize pack and payment for your participation at the event. You will also receive a double pass to the event that you can give away to friends or family and a photo shoot to add to your portfolio*

MMA Showdown News: Another match set for SHOWDOWN!

WELTERWEIGHT MATCH 77KG

MATT BECKER (Element Gym) vs NICK HAYDEN (Young Lions/Arruda BJJ)

Another match is set for MMA SHOWDOWN and features two more competitors making their début into the world of mixed martial arts fighting! Matt Becker (MMA 0-0) who fights out of Element Gym will be taking on Nick Hayden (MMA 0-0) from Young Lions/Arruda BJJ. Both fighters have a history with each other, where most recently they squared off in a bout at the South Australian Jiu-jitsu Championships. Becker won the match in a close decision and took out the bronze medal in the tournament. Both have also trained Muay Thai in Thailand where they polished their stand up skills. We know that both can go the distance on the ground, but come fight night we could see a stand up battle between these two! This is going to be an excellent début of two young fighters as they face off in the ultimate showdown at Thebarton Theatre!

A Trans-Tasman war between Australia and New Zealand has been set at MMA SHOWDOWN! South Australia’s Tony Caruso (MMA 0-0) who fights out of Northside Boxing and Jujitsu will be battling New Zealand’s Sam Rudd (0-0-1) who trains out of Momentum Technique! The rivalry between Australia and New Zealand has been fiercely competitive in sporting history and Saturday, February 2nd will be no different as these two nations collide in MMA! Tony Caruso will be making his MMA début in one of the nights most significant bouts. Caruso has a solid fighting background, competing on both the Karate and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu circuits.  Caruso has won both of his full contact karate fights and holds gold medals in Brazilian jujitsu in the National and Pan Pacific Blue Belt Divisions. Rudd has already tasted action in MMA, with his bout in NZ announced as a draw. Rudd is looking to take it to the Australian in his début fight in the country and has solid credentials in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Boxing to back up his skills. Can Australia take out this Tran-Tasman fight, or will New Zealand gain the victory and bragging rights in this battle between two nations?
